It took 40 years for Formula 1 to reach its 500th world championship grand prix milestone, from the first race at Silverstone in the United Kingdom in May 1950 to the 500th in Adelaide in November 1990. With the proliferation of grands prix in the modern era of Formula 1, it’s just 29 years between the 500th race and the 1000th in China in April 2019.
Yet much has still changed in Formula 1 in those 29 years, as we examine in the difference between the 1990 Adelaide Grand Prix and 2019 Chinese Grand Prix:
