With oversubscribed grids for most years, the Adelaide Grand Prix saw 31 entrants fail to qualify for the race over the course of its 11 years.

Pre-qualifying sessions were needed in 1988, 1989 and 1991 with non-qualifiers also in 1987, 1990 and 1994.
The list of non-qualifiers includes three drivers who also scored a podium in Adelaide – Stefan Johansson, Michele Alboreto and Martin Brundle. Alboreto was the only grand prix winner to fail to qualify in Adelaide.
